Found my dream car, I bought it today :)
you'll generally see bare metal from the teeth on the clamp around the jacking points on the car. they are usually hard to spot but on a car such as the OP's yellow s2000 they should show up quite well
i'll see if i can get a pick from a car at my shop tomorrow for a better reference

With that history, that car is not worth any more than $10k.
The wind noise is from the driver side latch.
My car was like that.
I did a simple mod that lowered the latch a little bit and although its still not flushed as the passenger side, the wind noise have decresed 90%.

NOT WORTH IT.
Do some more research. Current s2k resale is in the dumps.
For a 00-01 and sometimes even 02, you can find them easily for less than 11k right now private sale. Trust me, Ive been searching s2k's for weeks to find out what I can sell mine for...

Hopefully you're not still looking at this car.
Wait for a deal. Drive if you must, or you're really unnecessarily narrowing your search and will not end up with nearly as good of a car as if you were to look further. Stop looking at stealerships. Use crazedlist.org and check off as far out as you're looking to search.
In my case, for $2,000 more six months ago, I got:
3 years newer
Better Tires
60k miles less
Great paint that's NOT a repaint
No aftermarket top/wind issues
No questionable history
You can do better. Look for private owners, especially those that have money and are selling it for a reasonable price as haggling and tire kickers aren't worth their time. Mine was in a RICH neighborhood in a garage with a car cover - yay!

OP - I'd do a lot of research. I picked up an 04 with 61K on it for $15.7. Your price point seems a little low. $12k out the door is a used civic, not an s2000.
Repaints don't bother me, as long as I know why it was repainted. for example, we had a fender bennder on our TL and they bend our front fender. When they replaced the fender, as I didn't want a pound out, I requested that my body shop repaint the front end, with a new bumper and fad the paint to the rear. The car looks like a new ride and there are no stone chips.
A lot of people will tell you, 'dont buy anything but a perfect car.' Sure that's good advice if you're willing to pay for it. $12 out the door is going to require you give a little.
-clean title / no body work
-low miles
-in your price point
Pick any three.

If I didn't already have a S2000, I'd buy that one.

Much much better deal than the one the OP posted.

I'm having a body shop look at this, if it's good and I can get it cheap, I might, I'm also keeping options open and still looking.............
Haven't decided anything yet
