Willie,

Yes, welcome aboard! That's very low mileage for an MY00. Congrats, and I hope you truly enjoy your ownership experience.

A lot of information about mods is available in the s2ki S2000 Talk forum, and yes your local/regional s2ki area is very active. I'm sure you'll enjoy talking with those guys.

Best wishes.

Iz,

Welcome to our Intro forum! I hope all goes well and you get your S2000 soon. There is no comparison between an S2000 and a Max, and I'm sure you know that.

I'm not sure that it's fair for us to advise you on exactly how to buy your car. Price will vary based on mileage and condition. You should probably ask the current owner about driving habits and especially if any performance mods have been done to the car -- if so, pay attention to those areas that might show premature wear.

The pre-MY02 models did have a number of fixes (TSBs) that were available from the dealers, and you might ask if any of them have been done to your car. Even with the 02, there was a spark plug recall (MY00 - MY02) until mid-year of production and there are some wear issues to look out for (soft top, seat bolsters...).

That said, the S2000 is a tough little car. Most (I repeat, most) of the cars that haven't been crashed are likely to hold up well.

flomasta...

Get familiar with rear-wheel-drive, and whatever you do take it easy for the first few months of ownership. The S2000 is a wonderful car for twisties and the track, but a lot of younger owners (and, frankly, some older ones too) fail to respect the power at the rear and hurt their cars.

I wish you well in your quest. There is nothing in my experience like the S2000, and having one at your age will be amazing. However, before you buy, check out the insurance situation -- that could be a serious impediment for you, fm....

Best wishes.

I highly suggest jus enjoying the car for what it is before modding the hell out of it from the get-go.

The car actually requires little maintenance, in my experience. The basic stuff is easily done by yourself. I strongly recommend getting acquainted with your local s2ki community (go to the main s2ki page) and maybe see if a tech day is being held sometime soon.

Jason, welcome aboard! I know you'll love your new S2000. The MY00 car is special, as it was the first year. Respect it, and it'll treat you right!

I recommend enjoying the car as-is for a while before doing any extensive modding. Once you're interested, the best information is available in S2000 Talk, Under The Hood, and Racing and Competition. These are other forums on s2ki.com. There's also your local / regional forum that will be a place to contact owners near you!

Best wishes.

I agree especially when its wet. It's very fun when its wet if you intend to have fun but when you drive like you normally do with a FWD car then trouble is coming your way. Been close to doing this one time, only at a really low speed but still i kinda got me a little bit shaky ( dunno if thats an english word but i mean like nervous )
Just take it easy and you'll do fine!
