Long time reader, First time owner
Greetings, Mark here in Austin, TX. Just picked up my 06 GPW s2k a few days ago. I will update my profile soon. A little history on the car:
Original owner named Saylor I believe purchased her new in Oklahoma, drove it for 7 years and only put about 35k miles on her. Matt from houston Texas flew to Oklahoma and purchased the car and stuck it in his garage for less than a year, and only added approx. 2000 miles to the odometer. This car is damn near flawless, the best kept interior i've ever seen on a used s2k and definitely is "Mark spec" The engine bay looks like a showroom car. I drove her home and had some light rain for just a few minutes. this is the first time the car had ever seen rain! I was anal with my vettes and GT-R and only got caught in the rain once. a quick wash, blow dry and detail spray with microfiber did the trick. I plan to polish later when weather is better. I need to stick my nose in the detail forums to see what the clear coat is like on this car. I have a feeling it's not as hard as the vette nor as fussy as the GT-R. one pass of Menzerna 106FF may do the trick.
This s2000 is my 20th vehicle. I'm an avid car enthusiasts and love turning wrenches and doing things right. With that said, is there a link to an S2000 "Do's and Don'ts" section? other things of interest I should inspect, replace, or keep my eyes on? this car was serviced at honda religiously. I've got the correct PCX-004 filter i believe and their ultimate 10-30 full synthetic oil with crush washers ready to go. new OEM air filter and cabin air filter, etc. What's the best fluid for the tranny and rear end and what are their maintenance intervals?
Hoping to fit in with the "gurus" of the forum, thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing from you guys!

I'm in Austin also. I have an '01 GPW/Red that I bought 11 years ago. These are great cars.
One of the things that should probably be done on an '07 at 35k is a valve adjustment. I don't think Honda recommends this for 60-100k but the drive by wire cars valves seem to get tight earlier than the others. Either way, it's only $240 at First Texas Honda on Steck.

I went through and pretty much replaced all the fluids except the coolant. I let the dealer (they had a special) bleed the brakes but that was it. I did Billman's trick for the clutch fluid, suck out the reservoir and replace. Repeat 3 or 4 times. (Easy and don't have to deal with air and pumping clutch) Sounds like you are on track with the crush washers and using proper torque.
Recommend the axle nut retighten. I was surprised how loose mine was. This is a biggie.
Do the valve adjust/check. My exhaust side was a little tight. Glad I caught it in time. See Billman's post.
Use OEM stuff for this car, it turns out the quality is really worth it.
I use Mobil 1 0W-30 and change 3-4K miles. I use Mobil 1 for the diff too. I had used Honda MTF but just this week switched to Amsoil synthetic synchro so I will see how that goes. Check this out:

Oil is one of the most hotly debated topics in this forum. I like Mobil 1 as it is $25 for 5qts in the big container at Wal Mart. You can go farther with Amsoil but I like to change every 3-4K miles. My engine is very clean.
I pretty much replace fluids once a year except for the engine.
Do be careful in the rain especially if the tires are a bit thin. Common element in the accident thread. This car can bite you.
Have fun and welcome! Search around and read all the stickies. Try Under the Hood. Also try http://s2000.com/forums/
Thanks for the friendly welcome and the info! keep it coming !
I'm all too familiar with sucking out the clutch fluid. The vettes were bad about this. I did this today with honda fluid and it was clear on the 3rd round. i'll have to look up the axle nut size, I think i have a 33mm floating around.
I'll look into the valve adjustment as well. Is there a "go-to" guy as far as S2000 mechanics at howdy or first texas? In the GT-R days, there was a guy named charles at southpoint who is now at san marcos i believe, particular and fussy about making sure things were done right.
Any hidden features or tricks on this car? my 06 Si had more bells and whistles. i'm suprised at how noisy this car is, not counting the noise you hear thru the top. about as noisy as my STi. I plan on removing the S-drive tires and sticking some super sports on there.

You do have a "secret compartment".
Some people leave VSA on for the road, off for the track. Check out the discussions on wheel alignment. Can't help you with Texas, been too long since I lived in Corpus and Beeville. There is somebody there that has done a million soft top installs though.
