Post New here, sti owner

Hello everyone. I currently own a 04 sti with quite a few things done, including a gt30 and supporting mods. However i'm looking to get rid of the car payment and high insurance as i'm going to be purchasing a house soon. I am looking at a few cars....one of them being an ap1 s2k. Probably a 2000, 2001 model.

I know a little about the cars, i know a few people with them. What are the pros/cons of the earlier models? Also im looking in the 12k(ish) price range....so im looking at higher mileage cars. How long-lasting are the motors on these things? Anything i should look out for? If anyone here is selling one in the low teens.....hit me up

Lenard

As far as insurance goes, I am pretty sure the s2000 will be very comparable to the STi, perhaps more I would think. There are a lot of people with high mileage s2k's that don't have any problems. I believe there is a member or two with with F/I and over 100k miles.

Anyways, welcome to the site. STi's are fun cars. A good friend of mine has one with a Perrin Rotated Mount GT30r w/ FMIC and the works. Very fun cars.

When I joined this forum a lot of people who didn't have STIs tried to tell me how it is coming from an STI to an s2000.

Just listen or focus on those who've owned STIs before hand, even EVOs.

My insurance rates went down comparing to my STI, I do still have the STI but I pay $119 a month for my s2k, same plan I was paying 160 for my STI together I pay like $185 but the STI just sits.

Also gas is a lot better in the s2000 - its slower but feels like its going faster. You'll learn how to drive it will be fun....

i got an 02 s2000 that i got about 2 months ago. it only has 39k miles on it and i got it from a 55yr old guy. i wish i could trade but dont have enough money for it, but your sti is probably highly modded anyway. i would prefer something a little slower

im from atl too, gwinnett area specifically.

I had an 05 stage 2 sti and now have a 06 S2000. Both fun car in their own rights. The insurnace on the S2000 is actually cheaper than what I was paying on my STi. Also, I find the S to be cheaper on gas.

You have to pay like 20 bucks or something unless the rules changed, anyways good luck w/ the sale. The s2000 is the most useless car ever but damn is it fun.
