Default Picking up a 08' S2k next week, some questions!

So I decided to finally pull the trigger on a 08 S2k. I come from an automotive background and have always appreciated this car. I have read a bunch of different break in procedures but am going to stick with the owner's manual guidelines (nothing above 5k before 600 miles and constantly keep the RPMs moving within those miles, then change oil at 4500k). I have heard that these engines burn oil easily so I was wondering what type of oil should I add to the car if it does burn some oil (because I have no idea what "break in" formula Honda uses from the factory). Before the car leaves the lot I am going to add a can of BG oil stabilizer to help with the break in as well. Also, do you guys run 10w30 synthetic or 10w30 regular after the 4500k oil change? Any input is appreciated, thanks!

the ap2 2.2 doesnt burn oil. The AP1s 2.0 did burn oil in alot of cases. I have had two ap2 s2000 and neither have burned a drop of oil.

A good friend of mine has a 2005 and burned about a quart during break in but nothing after that, which is why I was concerned. How did you perform your break in?

Search. It's all been said and done before.

I have a bottle of Castrol GTX in case the car uses any oil, but I haven't added any yet. I followed the Honda break-in also. After that, I took it up 1000 rpm each 100 miles. Honda break-in has no testable differences from standard oil according to the companies people here use for oil analysis. On the flip, Woodwork (Honda) recommended keeping it in until 5000 anyways.

I'm planning to run regular until 10K and then switch to synthetics.

You want to check your oil level all the time (that goes to say with any situation). But, you want to keep your factory oil until 7500 miles so that it can do its job of breaking in the engine.

My car only burned oil during the break in period, and until I changed the oil for the first time. Since then my oil level has been the same.

I picked up my 08 in late December, 2400 miles (1200 mile road trip) later it hasn't used any oil. But I have had a bottle of OEM Honda oil that I picked up at the dealership with just in case.

Personally I would not use BG oil stabilizer, or any oil additive.

Do a search, you will find a lot of talk about break-in, when to change, and with what.

hey everyone, i just bought a 08 s2000 cr. and it hasnt burned a drop of oil for 2650 miles. and i took it for a 1500 miles trip as soon as i bought it. so i wouldnt be to worrieda bout it as lnig as you dont beat the piss out of it. thats probably half the reason that these car end up burning oil. and btw wonderful car, i love it, and would reccomend it to anyone looking for a truly track ready stock car.

My 02 used some oil during the break in period, but since switching to Mobile 1 at 10k the oil has been staying full.
