Default Questions about buying s2k

A little bit about myself, Im a PFC in the army and soon to be married. Im currently in iraq now, so im not paying taxes on my pay check while im out here. I should be back state side in Nov/Dec and In total I should have 6-8k saved up. I currently pay for a 2006 civic ex with 7k miles on it. I have good credit, and want to know if I could afford a new s2k or If I should go the used route. Insurance would vary between 1$-14$ dollars more a month depending on the car. I just want everyones imput... Thanks again!

Most people find that insurance is pretty high for s2000's. Good for you if you can get coverage for just the S2K or even both for just $1-14 more! Doesn't sound right to me though.

A lot more factors come into play as far as if you can afford one or not. Like monthly income, other expenses (renting or buying a home), family size, daily driver vs. keeping the civic.

I had a 2000 Integra GS when I bought my S2000. I was 26 at the time, married, and had a major accident (my car was totalled) that was my fault 8 months earlier. Insurance, full coverage and comprehensive on the Integra was $105 a month. Bought my S2000, the insurance went to $110 a month.

I think I am ripping off my insurance company.

You can afford the S based on what you have posted. Figure out what payment you can swing....because if you can go new and get a 2006 in Laguna Blue Pearl, you should.

My insurance went up 165/year from my 2001 Accord EXv6 to the S2000. Still under $1k per year. Thought that was decent :-)

There are a lot of factors that play into whether you can afford a car.

What happened to the MY03 mentioned in your sig?

My best wishes to you out in Iraq. Hope you come home safely soon!
