Should I Buy An S2000?
I am searching for my next car and thought the S2000 was it. I have been looking at 2004s and 20005's because I like the torque range for city driving when needed and don't require the higher revs of the earlier car. I have had a Miata and 3 MINI Cooper S's. My last one had the John Cooper Works. I thought this was my next logical car. I test drove one last week for the first time and loved it, but it has one problem for me that bugs the heck out of me and that is the lack of lumbar adjustment on the seat back, which I find too firm. It bothers my back and seems like it would be a nuisance on long trips. I asked a S2000 owner about the seat and he agreed that it can be painful on trips. I am not talking about the tightness of the seat or the seating space. They doesn't bother me. It is the lump in the lower back that is the deal breaker. Does anyone know how to fix or replace the seat? Is this done very often? If I can't fix this problem, then I can't buy the car, because I want to feel comfortable on longer trips. Steve

Hello all,
I've been looking around for something fun to drive as a daily commute for the past week or so and looked upon the following, an STI, EVO, Miata, Sky Redline, and an Volkswagen R32.
I was wondering in comparison to these other cars, how does the s2k stack up in regarding maintenance cost?

Most often it's the driver who damages the vehicle by abusing it.
This is why the S2000 was on the top 10 list of Car and Driver, year after year. Just awesome.

The S2000 is extremely reliable. Just over 100,000 kms and it just won't break and I drive it hard.

What's up forum!
I'm very interested in buying an S2K, always loved the car, and after so long, I may finally be able to afford one.
Anyways, I had a few questions:
I hear 03-04+ models handle better(less oversteer/better torque)? or so I read on a Car&Driver mag once..beside looks of course..
and my other question is in regards to mileage..
The deal I'm trying to get is a 2000 S2K with 136 miles @ $9.5K. The car checked out great on AutoCheck which is a more thorough company than Carfax and has absolutely no problems according to it. It looks really good, I test drove it and felt great as well. Owner says he bought it from an older guy and it doesn't look like it's ever been modified, abused or raced. How do they perform after 100K miles? What do you guys think? Should I reconsider, and maybe get a newer one with less miles?
Thanks in advance. Mike.

Hey Mike,
I think you should repost your question in your own thread. If you read the first page, you'll see that this is really not that kind of thread.
But to answer your questions, I DON'T KNOW. I love my 2005. never had a problem with anything. So, repost your questions, find the right car and buy it.
Good luck.
