Hear, hear!!! Very well said, XV!

I know one thing that concerned me most before buying my S was that Honda simply doesn't advertise it at all. Frankly, that scared me -- why are they so tight-lipped?? If this car is so great, why don't they tout it a little?

I've got a BMW/Audi dealer down the street with TTs and Z3s (well, maybe Z4s now) screaming out at you from the lot. But the S is like a secret. Even when you go to the Honda dealers, they're likely not to have any.

Well, the simple fact about the S is that the dealers worldwide don't get a lot of experience selling the cars because Honda keeps them to 7 or 8 cars a year. Unfortunately, the more important point is that they don't service many of them either.

For folks considering a buy, there is an extremely vocal minority of owners here on the board that have had a very bad experience with their dealers for service. I have not, personally, but forewarned is forearmed. I am also considering retro-fitting with an extended service warranty to protect against long-term engine damage. Honda hasn't done anything in the US to-date to deal with the #4 cylinder oil starvation problem that has been discussed often here and has caused several owners to require engine rebuilds. That worries me.

That said, best wishes to you all, and despite worries if you don't buy an S you're missing the drive of a lifetime. I'm doing things with this car that I never considered sane in others!

pro: great lookin roadster, handles insane, best performance roadster short of an M roadster, pretty much maxxed out right out of the box

con: stiff ride, have to rev it to oblivion in order to get max performance, 2 seats (who cares), lack of torque, pretty much maxxed out right out of the box

I can't friggin believe that after reading all of these posts that the one thing that keeps coming up time over time in regards to what sucks about this car is the stereo. Okay look here is an easy fix for the stereo. Pick a song you want to hear and play it in your head. Now if you want it really loud and clear concentrate on what it would sound like really loud and clear and voila the perfect sound system. The STEREO!!! Give me a break, who cares unless your one of these lost generation young ones who thinks that music is nothing but bass. Buy a buick if you want to hear the radio.

Ooops sorry I guess I should have capitalized Buick, no wait on the other hand it's not worthy of a capital letter.

I've recently decided to buy a S2000 myself; I just need to choose a color. A local dealer has a Spa Yellow, a Suzuka Blue, and a Silverstone with red interior. Should have one in a few days.

Troubled, there's a personality to each of these colors. VinceD in CA posted an awesome description of Suzuka... I wish I had the link. He said Suzuka is the bass player in the band!!

Spa is for folks who want to get noticed. No question.

The only question that matters is what do you like!

Best of luck on your purchase, and post some pix when you get it!!!

I've had mine for 35 days, but who's counting. This car is a dream to drive! I just love it!!! It's depressing getting to your destination. I just want to drive it all day!!! Last week I burned 3/4 of a tank of gas just driving through the Texas hill country for the hell of it and ejoyed every inch of windy road thrown at me.

I actually went to the BMW dealer to purchase a Z-3. I had test driven 4 of them and I was ready to buy. When I got to the dealer, I saw this S2000 on the lot. It was an 01 with 7K miles on it. I had seen these cars, but never ridden in one. I figured what tha hell, I'll drive it.

3 hours later it was in my driveway. End of story.

One drive is all it takes. If you have any questions about owning one, just test drive the son of a bitch. Your questions will be answered.

I am very thankful for this forum BTW. there is a lot of good info found on here.

-cheers!

I would take out the "son of a bit*h" in Hendo's post. Everything else is cool. It's true. If you don't love the S2000 at first sight, then you will never like it.

Pros: FUN! FUN! FUN! to drive. I ditched my 2000 Passat GLX(great car, hate the VW service) to buy one six weeks ago. 2002 Silver with back interior. Three different people thought it was the Z4. Uh, sorry I paid $15K less and got a better car.

Cons: This car might get you in trouble. It screams to go fast.

S2K -- Buy it, live it, Love it!
