Stop getting all uptight.
My SRT has smoked an s2k...but that's not the point.

The point is I love my SRT, it was my 1st car but I am
definitely digging the s2k and am now looking to get one.

If by having to "give it a hardy breakfast" you mean there isn't a lot of low end torque in comparison to the SRT-4, then you are probably right. The S2000 was designed that way in a sense. It was meant to be driven hard in its upper rpm range and stay there. It was never intended to be a 0-60 statistics car like the SRT-4.

I've had a couple of cars that I put a lot of time and money into as well but never thought them to be superior to every other car I thought of getting.

Its the same with my s2000. I like it and have put a bit of time into it but I know that its not the absolute bestest car in the whole wide world. Is it a reliable, good performing, fun as hell car to have? In my opinion yes its one of my favorite cars.

In comparison to the srt4 I say, also in my opinion, the s2000 is a better all around car. Is it boosted out of the box? No but honestly I'm still having fun with it as is. Boost can wait till later. but if I were a bettin man I'd be willing to bet that would you get better performance out of a boosted s2000 than an srt4

As far as the transmission I have no issues. I just recently did an oil change and did my trans fluid at the same time. She now shifts smoother than the day I brought her home from the dealer. Poor girl probably never had a trans fluid change since she was born. So I would also bet the one you test drove was a used and abused. The first one I ever test drove felt the same. Shifted poorly and didn't feel at all what I s2000 should. So, chooose what you want but I think you'd be closed minded to completely think nothing is better than an srt4. If that's the case why change vehicles?

I think the point that people are trying to make is that the S2000 is the wrong car to look into if you want something that is extremely fast in a straight line which seems to be one of your biggest gripes with the car.

I love my S2000 to death, but not for the same reasons as someone might love their SRT-4. Apples and oranges and what not.

The S2000 probably isn't a good fit for you. The SRT4 is primarily a "straight-line car", and the S2000 is the complete opposite of that. The S2000 is light, nimble, and intended to handle well.

In all honesty, you'd probably be happier with a convertible Mustang (V8 or S/C or both).

And... that's it? All your SRT-4 is good for is going fast in a straight line. Any retard in a minivan can do that.

Super or turbocharge an S2000 and your SRT-4 will feel like a Corolla in comparison.

This kind of validates my belief that SRT-4 owners all fall into a stereotypical category of being ignorant and obsessed with their Fail Wheel Drive cheap turbo econocrap car that can't do anything but drive in a straight line well.

I think I know what car the OP should upgrade to...

And if you get your friends drunk you can try to trick them into thinking it's a GTR

I agree. If you're not going to autocross or track race it (or dump A LOT of money into performance), then get a different car. This car is not made to be a straight line...but with enough money, it'll be faster than your SRT in a straight line.

If you like to actually drive while racing, then the s2000 will far outclass your turbo neon.

That said, it is a fun car to just drive around in too.

I wouldn't make too much fun of the cobalt, it handles the corners pretty good.

To the original poster, I think part of the reason people are kind of giving you a hard time is that a lot of guys on here are a bit older. Try not to type a post like you are texting on your phone.

(I think it may be a problem with hitting enter too often. Makes your post look funny)
