VTEC Controller on stock S2K
I have a stock '00 S2K... How much power can I expect from getting a VTEC controller and having it tuned??? The long term goal is to do a comptech SC kit. And would like to know a good place to start building as the SC is about a year out financially.
You can get some performance gains with a VTEC controller. You can change the VTEC engagement... I'm not sure it's worth doing this though prior to having your SC installed. The combination of the SC with good tuning is real bang for the buck.
The problem with adjusting VTEC w/ the VAFC is that you wont ahve partial throttle control on VTEC engagement anymore. It's either going to be on/off. I guess if you are looking for straight up drag race like performance thats the way to go, but you really should have bought a different car.
cowboyup,
I recommend that you chat with gilbertg (Giles) via PM (or in the New England forum) about tuning options. He may have some suggestions for you, although keep in mind that the stock setup is essentially tuned to begin with. The real gains start with forced injection. Extracting 240HP out of a naturally aspirated 2L engine is a pretty amazing feat to begin with.
