ASM Resonator rattle
^ I have to agree that it would be nice to see that coming from the manufacturer rather than the vendor. It's wonderful that Go Tuning is taking care of buisness, but it would certainly be nice to see the compensation coming from the source.
The problem is that ALL resonators and mufflers packed with wool or fiberglass ends up burning up over time, this is a fact. When this happens, the leftovers bits can stay in there and slightly rattle at certain harmonic frequencies but it's usually very subtle and is likely to go away with time. ASM doesn't believe that simply replacing the resonator that has new material in it is a proper solution because the same may happen over time.
Their solution was to design a completely new exhaust that doesn't use conventional packed resonators and mufflers which is the Siren Circuit exhaust which features 5 silencers with resonance chamber and a evolved twin-loop design. This exhaust meets japanese 93db regulation without the use of any packing material so it is extremely durable and doesn't get louder over time. Unfortunately it requires a lot of labor and material to produce so is priced very high. Most of the customer in Japan who have aged S-Special exhausts are simply trading in their old exhaust for the Siren Circuit rather than asking for new resonators. This is why it's hard to us to convince them to provide us replacement parts.
Obviously we have a different mentality over here in the States and we at Go Tuning understand this so we're here to support our customers in is market.

I also want to note that I've personally seen 3 Amuse exhaust resonators literally burst open and have heard of countless more that have cracked or are rattling. Of the ones I've seen first hand, 2 split open in the middle, and one was lucky enough to split at a seam, all those people had to pay to get their titanium exhausts repaired out of their own pocket.

What's the worse thing that happens when it comes to packing wearing/burning out? I'm assuming the exhaust just gets louder, right?
I noticed on my new S-Special 60, that it seems to blow out some fiberglass glitter/dust. But this seems to be more of a break-in thing.

I really don't like ASM's buisness position on the resonator replacement. I am just going to come strait out and say it, this bullshit about exhaust failure being normal is a strait crock of shit.
Yes the scruffle inside is prone to burning out like some have said and yes the exhausts will get louder over time as this happens, but resonator FAILURE is not something that happens all the time. How many other manufacturers (Spoon, HKS, Greddy, Invidia) have had problems like this? How many other exhausts have been running years on end with no problems?
I realize the above offering are stainless examples, but as I've said before exhaust system construction is simple. I had this problem on my Trust TiR and had it cut open and rebuilt for a nominal sum of 250-350$. I know my exhaust is 1/2 the price of the ASM offering, but I knew that I might have problems with the Ti (Ti being more brittle than steel) construction over standard stainless, and that repair could be in it's future. For me the repair was worth it, BECAUSE the exhaust was 1/2 the price.
If people are really shelling out close to 4grand for an exhaust on an S2000, than their really is a sucker born every second. Leaving stateside vendors hanging in the wind to clean up a quality control and engineering blunder is completely unforgivable. Shame on you ASM.
