If you wanted to machine the piston skirts to use mahle pistons, I'm sure you could.

I was able to fit the bore squirters with Mahle gold pistons. I had to bend the squirter tubes inwards to clear the web of the piston, and also upwards away from the piston. I then notched the skirt so there was plenty of room ( 3mm) clearance.

tracked s2k's run their oil temps up to 260 degrees. That's why oil squirters are so important. If you plan to run your car like that an oil cooler will keep everything safe. Oil squirters are more variable in your motor. Endyn doesn't use them in any built motors.
I'm with zob. The squirters were designed after failures. This gets oil under the piston to cool it and it helps with lubrication. There is less mass in the s2k piston and it has less skirt material to transfer heat out. The oil is the fastest means to keep it cool, 7:1 or something in terms of heat transfer over air.

An oil cooler is far more prone to failure over a fixed squirter if you are going down that road. But they really do different things, cooler (actually a more stable oil temp/lower peak) oil won't help the piston, it just keeps the oil in its performance range.

FYI, the S2000 has a factory oil cooler...http://corporate.honda.com/press/art...=2003100141147

Freeway driving, no matter how aggressive, is the lowest load on the engine. If you get a failure there some was horribly wrong.

Where do you see info about a oil cooler?

bringing this back from the dead.. kinda

it's a bad idea to use mahle h22 pistons, they have the pins offset to reduce noise and wear on the piston/cylinder wall. this offset is opposite of what you would need for the f20c due to the fact that the engine rotate opposite directions.

this could be why the motor makes so much noise. Wiseco and the facotry pistons have an offset pin. i'm not sure cp's or je's do or not

u can flip the pistons and just cut the reliefs on the exhaust side of the piston to make up for the bigger intake valve and solve the offset issue, assuming they have the same exact offset keeping in mind the motors spin different directions..

do you know or can anyone calculate if i were to use the 9.0 to 1 mahle pistons would i still net that 9.0 to 1 compression ratio or would it be more or less ?
