Can anyone tell me the differences between the "type 1" and "type 2" tsuchinoko intakes?

I believe that Type I required for the oem grill to be cut/modified in order for it to fit, however, it had a large snorkel opening about 1/4 the size of the ap1 grille area. This version is no longer produced. The Type II is basically the same thing except the snorkel opening is much smaller (shorter in height, but possibly longer compared to spoon's) which doesn't require for the grill to be modified/cut. However, there is no power difference between the two.

So the type 2 still requires a new hood or hood cutting on the OEM right?

 

yes it still does

 

Does it work with the J's street hood. It's got a cut out next to the drop vent.

 

actually i believe it only works with the J's type V hood which has the hump to clear the snorkel, im not sure if you can cut the type S, because the type S has no hump.
