safc with t/p and exhaust
Hi guys,
well I am trying to make some power on N/A before goign F.I
possibly next year
so I started with a 70mm test pipe and 70mm rear single exhaust.
picked up a used SAFC which was previously tuned for previous owner car.
well I know that wont help me so.... RETUNE
A. should I reset it now while I am looking for a tuner in the NJ Metro Area.
if I reset it and leave it on stock settings will I be okay while I do some research and attend local meets to find out what locals s2k guys experience.
thanks guys for any input I am trying to do alot of research with out asking to many questions, but dont want to damage my engine.
thanks again

If the exhaust and test pipe are all you have for right now, I would suggest not installing the SAFC. In the end, you will have to tune it again once you acquire your F.I pieces anyways. By holding off and waiting, you will save more money that way. I recommend you still go to the meets and acquire the feedback you are looking for; in the meantime, keep the SAFC aside.
Just my two cents.

I agree with hunter but why are you not using a VAFC so you can alter the vtec engagement point
Depending on what your plans are for the car a VAFC could work to your benefit, but I don't want to persuade you to spend more money than you already plan on spending .
In the end I suggest making a list of all the parts you plan on acquiring (if you haven't already), and what your goals are for the car, as well as time frame. After you have done so, try to see if you can find ways to consolidate your steps. By doing so you might find areas where you can save a few bucks that you didn't acknowledge before.
Two more of my cents
