Thunderbolt is a fun track, it can't hurt to ask.

Actually I just heard back from them. Thunderbolt is a go for me next Wednesday. I'll be sure to let everyone here know how it went.

Plus it's better than waiting for June Dominion and then having them possibly cancel it on us again.

Just was perusing their FB page and holy walls batman!

Looking at some pictures I'm not surprised events got cancelled. Definitely isn't a whole lot of run off room.. I think I saw at the end of the main straight there are barriers.. That's gotta be a little unnerving, it's like summit main on turn 1 with barriers right past the pavement.

Yea, what's up with all the concrete? Really hope this isn't another Shenandoah type track.

Nothing like fresh tarmac in those Dominion pics.

Walls, what about that moon like run-off surface and the heavy equipment?

I'm sure it will all be sorted out soon. I plan on running there with NASA later this Summer, June 24-26.

Just cuz I'm here, did an SCCA Track Night in America @ Pocono last night. It was too close to home to say no. Left home at 2:30PM, got 60 minutes of track time and was home by 8:00PM. All for just $125. Started work 2 hours early, left work 2 hours early. Didn't even need to burn vacation time. Drove my car home in 1 piece. Lots of win.

Holy crap I hope those turn into tire barriers in a few months...

At least Shenandoah has runoff in the places where it counts

Ya, Shenandoah doesn't have a lot of runoff, but it does have some runoff in spots. Ultimately for a brand new track I was hoping they would've planned some more safety in and had more runoff (I was dreaming of having runoff like the west coast tracks like buttonwillow/etc ), but that doesn't seem to be the case. I guess mowing down a small forest and regrading everything isn't cheap, but it sure would make a big difference for the track.

Looking at this video it's hard to tell, but there doesn't look to be a whole lot of runoff room at the end of the straight. Hopefully I'm wrong. HPDE is one thing, but my understanding is that they will have racing here, and having very little/no runoff at the end of a big straight seems like a bad idea. I guess we'll see.
