Gear whine on 4.44's or 4.77's is pretty much a side effect of not having a 100% clean install IIRC. You could have gear whine in 4.10's if you installed them from another car. The only gears that are going to always have whine are the Richmond made 4.57/4.56's.

Most car's that have 4.77's with whine it is very quiet compared to the first gen. 4.57's.

FWIW I will probably try the 4.77's this summer.
