Looking for the groups opinion on what to replace the stock air filter with. I did a search on the topic and found about 2000 threads.

What have you guys bought that you like and improved the already GREAT S2K?

If you are looking to just replace the air filter in the stock airbox, there isn't much out there that will give you much in the way of gains. People do it for a slightly different "feel" in throttle response, maybe a slightly different sound but mostly for the fact that it is re-useable.
If you are looking to replace the whole stock airbox with a CAI (cold air intake) then there are many that have become popular and many will give you a few HP gain. Check out names like: Injen, AEM, PRM, Comptech, 4igS2000, K&N FIPK.
Also consider just adding the cold air "snorkel". The "real" one is by Spoon but the "knock off" can be purchased from a board sponsor "Import Development Inc."
