Reckless driving in the good old comonwealth is no joke. You say u have a clean record, so im willing to put money on it that you will either get charged for it, pay ur fines and walk out the courtroom or a chance of getting it reduced upon completing a drivers improvement clinic (considering you havnt within 4 years). It all depends on the judge and the courts have been crackn down on speeding pretty hard over the past couple years. I def recommend a laywer as they can negotiate with the prosecutor and cop to put in a good word for you, although in reckless driving convictions, its not the prosecutor who has say in it, as it all rests upon the judge and what he feels the neccessary actions should be against you. I have recieved 2 in the past year and a half, my latest being a 95/55. I got a laywer but the judge wasnt having it and slapped me with 90 days restricted liscense and $600 in fines not to mention what my laywer ended up costing me. Ive been in the hotseat enough for these damn things and I honestly think you have a good chance of getting it reduced upon completion of a driver improvement clinic upon submittal of ur clean driving record to the court. And yes, the laywer can represent you in the state of va w/o you being present. Good luck and slow down. I know I have
Alot of it has to do with the county ur in. I know in spotsylvania county the prosecutor doesnt get involved. Its you, ur laywer and the judge. I didnt think it was every 2 years u can do the clinic. Damn good thing to know
