Default Lost my registration card...

Not sure where it went. Just curious if there are any penalties for this if I were to get pulled over. The car is registered in Illinois, and I already called them. It's gonna take about 2-3 weeks for me to get a duplicate card.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You can get fined for it if pulled over.
Just don't speed and be careful

Well, that sucks. I don't plan on speeding, but I do get off work pretty late sometimes and I'm usually the only car on the road. LOL

Pete,

Its a minor offense its not pointable. If you did get a ticket it falls under no license or registration in possession. If there is a fine, I dont know but its VA so don't be surprised. But If you have to go to court show it and the charge should get dropped.

if you made the request for a new one .. and get pulled over in the mean time .. then you should be fine in court (if pulled over).. just prove it when you get there

They won't give you a temporary one? I just realized the other day my tags expired in April so I went online and renewed my registration and was able to print out a temporary one in case I was to be pulled over.

Well, the Illinois DMV website isn't very helpful. I just got off the phone with them again, and they're faxing me a registration verification slip.

Any sensible officer should can have your state's DMV called and verify that your registration is valid and let you off with a warning...assuming the officer doesn't have a thorn up his/her ass and you aren't a wise-ass to them.

chances are if and when you get pulled over you can say right up front that your registration card flew out of the car when the top was down and another one ois on the way or something. They will probably let you go. But if you get pulled over, they might still get you for speedin
