It's reassuring to know we have friends looking out for us Alex. Thanks.

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is? The service rep. called (Fri 530pm) and said she was waiting on a call back from the adjuster to authorize a "tear down". To what extent is the engine going to be torn down?

Just the top - it won't be a full tear down, and it really isn't anything to worry about

I know you're sitting here thinking - I just bought a car, why am I not driving it, and everyday the car is down it is killing you. I understand, and so does our service department. Unfortunately there is a warranty/insurance company involved who does everything via "cost analysis" - fortunately they are there to keep you and Checkered Flag from paying out of pocket.

All we ask is that you continue to have patience through this whole process. This is one of those things that nobody would have picked up on until the car was driven more than just for a test drive or if the top of the motor was taken off for inspection of valves and cylinders - something that is just not done on an inspection.

We have started a policy that can at least tip us off to a possible problem in the future - every Pre-Owned S2000 that goes through our shop will now have a full diagnostic done on it through the Honda computer. I'm not saying that if this had been done the problem would have been found because your car does not throw a code every time - it is quite random. This policy will increase the chances of catching a possible problem before the car is put out for sale though.

Chris - I'm very sorry that you had to be the one we learned this with

Alex,

I am glad I've got you on my side. I am getting more info from you than anyone else. Shit happens. This time it was to me. Right now my biggest issue is lack of comm. from CF. I am questioning my purchase, and aside from you, nobody has made me feel better about it. Again, I am grateful that you are keeping me in the loop. Granted it should be Ken's job at this point.

Alex - Here's what I don't understand (and I'm not bashing, just trying to understand). He paid for an s2000, is CF giving him an s2000 to drive in the meantime while his car is down or are they refunding him $$ every day that the car has been out of commission? I'm just trying to understand where Chris is making out on this, because right now it seems like it's just a burden to him and not to CF, where the burden should lie.

It is a used car, so everything is handled by his warranty company - not us. We're just doing the work.

They are providing me with a loaner (Camry).

The work being done to the car is covered under the dealerships warranty. The manufacturers warranty expired 600 miles ago.

That's an expensive Camry.
