Do you mean you boxed areas to mount in-wall speakers? Please tell me yes.

I cut 9 inch holes in plywood and nailed them between the studs. these were then drywalled. I put insulation behind this area to keep the sound from going into the attic area. If I need to box them in I can always do this later, its a pain (cause of the vaulted ceilings) but I can get on top of them.

You should still box them in.

$1500 MSRP? That pretty much leaves you with 3LCD or 720p DLP Rear projection if you want an HDTV. Of the two, 720p DLP is probably better as long as you don't see rainbows (DLPs use a color wheel and technically don't display more than 1 color on screen at a time, its so fast it looks like 1 picture, but some people see rainbows from it).
Samsung isn't a bad brand to go with ... Unfortunately they don't have any 720p HD2+ chips anymore which is probably better than the HD3 or newer 1080p DLP chips.
Actually the JVC HD-ILA is also pretty good, but I don't know if these 720p models are the newer models or not. The original HD-DILA 720p models had a lot of problems because it was their first generation. HD-ILA is an LCoS variant and is very similar to SXRD from Sony. I'd head over to avsforum.com and do some research on the HD-ILA models on Best Buy's website.

I may be asking for the impossible, but...
I'm looking for a replacement to my 32" RCA tube. My new apt. has a slightly thinner living room, and since it's about time for me to upgrade to flat panel anyway, now's a good time to get a wall mountable unit (i.e., LCD or plasma). If the aspect ratio on the new unit changes from my current 4:3, I would like to increase the screen size for a comparable picture size when viewing SD video. I guess something in the range of 37-40"? High-def is the goal, with a price range of under $1,500 (though I would prefer under $1,000).
From the looks of it, LCD has it all over plasma at this point, though I could be wrong. Most of my viewing will more than likely still be in SD, I just want the high-def upgrade path.
