Default Softtop not folding properly?

hey,

I noticed my soft top isn't going right down where it should be. I noticed the folds are kind of messed up and i have to get out of the car to fix it. ANybody has any experience? and what can i do besides getting out of the car to fix the folds every time?

Maybe due to the cold? How long have you had the car and did it fold correctly in warmer temperatures? I can't imagine the elastic bands being worn out already.

I tried to take my top off a few weeks ago when it was about 45 -50 degrees F outside. Probably a bad idea, because on the first attempt it didn't go down all the way. So I put it back up and tried again. This time it folded all the way down. I don't know if this is the same problem as you have, but try warming up the whole system by raising and lowering it once or twice. If you do live in colder weather, that is.

There is a known problem with the elastic straps that are supposed to fold down the middle rod. When they go out they don't pull the brace totally back out of the way.

One of the first signs is your top not folding all the way down. It just sticks up a little higher than normal.

The second signs are FIST SIZED HOLES in the top where the latch mechanisms have been forced thru.

I had to have mine replaced just a month or so ago.

If it pops at all when you are lowering the top be VERY VERY careful!

I have the same problem with the elastic straps not pulling the top support and the top not sitting all the way down I put the roof down. To "solve" this problem I just hold the top down button with my left hand and use the right to manually push the beam down a tiny bit when the top is about halfway down. I have it to one fluid motion and dont stop the top as I put it down to do this, anyone who rides in my car doesn't even seem to notice and ask what I'm doing so I'm not too worried.

okay this has gotten me a little paranoid lol. I'm not sure if my top is going down all the way also. I've never gotten to use the tonneau cover yet, since it seems like the pins behind the rollhoops are almost inaccessible. Here's some pics, could someone tell me if the top is malfunctioning or I'm just overly paranoid

is this something a dealer could fix for me? If I buy the replacements, how hard is it to install?
