Don't take this the wrong way it's not a ego thing, but you should not be driving solo without Many instructed track events.

Believe me there is so much going on you will need a extra set of eyes.
Trust me I'm not taking any of this as an insult. I'm asking questions because I'm admitting I dont know what I'm doing (on a track). I dont want to endanger myself or anyone else. I want this to be fun.

ek9 - thanks for the long write up

George - Thanks! I guess I forgot to mention my car will be SCed so some people suggested stock brakes some said upgrade. I would much rather be safe then sorry. I can definately change my own brake pads and such and you're right I do need to know how to do my own maintenance for things like brake fluid.

UK alignment - I just had my car aligned a few hundred miles ago, but I'll go back and do the UK specs. Do you know the numbers off the top of your head?

Good tools - I should be ok there for the most part

Race books - I'll go buy

Strut bar - I hear only some of them clear the Vortech SCer so I'll have to research which ones.
Sway Bar, Not a strut bar. They are not cheap, but make a Huge difference in the handling of the car.

Front Bar

I noticed the SC is listed as "in a pile" which is why I didn't think you needed the pad upgrade.

"Driving Faster" is the best of the driving books.

Summit's the only track in the area that'll let you out there without a rollbar.

Not to be an opportunist, but I will be selling mine soon.

Pretty much everyone who tracks a S2000 on a regulalr basis has a way stiffer (then stock) front bar.

Summit is the only track in the area... period!

The following took place at BeaveRun:

Ek9 is correct about the comparison between street driving prowess and track. I had a decent resume of aggressive street driving. When I got on the track(even after autox'ing... and you should do it), I was "slow and sloppy" - a direct quote from my instructor. Then my second session he assessed it as "fast and sloppy." He pulled me into the pits and became stern with me because I got the car out of shape coming out of T6 and into T7, but saved it. He promptly stated that the "car" saved me, not my driving. At that point it was pointless to drive with him, because I knew everything.

After chow and having a great support group(George, Bryan(SC Highlander), Hardtopguy, Keith, Joe- Jeff's brother, Pete(Yellow Streak)), I went out with a better attitude. We cleared things up between the instructor and me and proceeded to work together. One of the things that helped me was to be a passenger in the instructor's car.

By day's end, I was one of the faster cars on the track gobbling up 'vettes and the like. I am forever indebted to those guys and the instructor for that life experience.

Gendron is right there with the Comptech.

I consider Beaver and VIR to be "in the area". Does Beaver let you go without a bar? When I went there once, they were pretty lax.

I'm not sure I can throw down 1,000 for that sway bar but comptech has a pair of front and rear upgraded sway bars for like $400 I could easily do that.

George I'd buy that bar from you, but I don't think I could afford it. I can spend some monies, but not many many monies

Skip - I didn't know you were into this stuff. I'm glad you got things straightened out with your instructor. I'm sure it's gonna be a ball buster when I have an instructor tell me I suck, but its part of the process I suppose.
