Taking it to the track
I have a question about the sway bar. Not that I'd question the guys who have been to the track a lot, but is there some value to be had to learning the drive the car stock before putting sway bars in and stuff?

the instructors are good though, and you get to drive a caprise on the skippad!
oh, and the s2k is a sports car, learn to drive it stock on the track and then start to mod. I know a TON of people that throw a bunch of shit onto their cars and then track them... and i pass them all in my 944

the only real mods i would suggest for the track are
1) SS brake lines
2) ATE blue brake fluid
3) better pads
Your brakes are under more stress and pressure on the track then ANY spirited driving you have ever done. I would recomend at least fluid before going to the track, and checking your pad depth. You use a LOT of the pads at the track.

You want a SA2000 or SA2005 helmet. Don't get an M rated helmet or you will regret it. They are not allowed at most events because they are made motorcycles (your head hitting pavement as opposed to a roll bar)

civicguyinva, you seem to be setting yourself up for problems. It's their event to run however they wish. They can toss you out at will if they want to. I've seen cases where no instructor would ride with a noob so, they just had to go home. My advice, do your homework, keep your mouth shut and enjoy yourself as much as possible.
It would lessen your anxiety if you just go to a track hpde event to see how it is run and hitch rides with the more advanced drivers. One thing you will see is that you are no where near driving at the limit and you can relax and drive at your pace to get there. Also you become accustomed to the track layout...most of your first few events is just not getting lost on the track so you can start working on your lines.

Thanks man! I have gone to a few events recently (hyperfest and NASA) and have tried to get a basic understanding. I have asked a few people for rides, but I really just want to stay out of everyones way. We have a lot of great local drivers. I just hope to learn from them. Good advice about getting used to the track too. The ability to go fast wont do me any good without knowing where the corners are.
