The amount in the package for small business is a joke. Loans? Big deal. I wonder what people would say if the money for unemployment benefits and health insurance was a given as a loan? They should have the money for small business structured as a grant that does not have to be repaid if you hire a worker for each $50,000 payment. That would create jobs.

so you think socialism is a good idea.. how could we afford to give each business 50k without raising taxes
YOU ALREADY HAVE SOCIALISM. Your president and the one before him brought it to us. As for the cost of helping small businesses hire people...
DO THE MATH!!! The stimulus bill is supposed to create or save 3.5 million jobs. The Stimulus bill costs $780B dollars. So how much will it cost per job created??? Divide $780B by 3.5M. And the answer is... $222,000 PER JOB!!!!!!!! Pissa huh?
Now multiply the $50K I would give every small business that hired one full time person for a year times 3.5 million.
And the answer is... $175B.
My plan costs less than 1/4 of your retarded Pelosi plan.
So now who's the socialist???
Well, he and Pelosi created the plan, and it will be decades before we pay for it.
Next up, Tarp 2 and another $350B.
Next after that: Bank Bail out and another $2 TRILLION dollars.
Whatever he inherited, it is all his now:

Which is exactly why GWB's minions should have told the banks to sink or swim on their own. We could have taken the $4 trillion or so that this sucker is going to cost us and started our own banking system.
The most important thing isn't to prop up the economy in the short-term; the most important thing is to ensure that this doesn't happen again for another 100 years or so.
We need a "Darwinian flush" to clean things out at both the corporate and personal levels. And in that respect, Obama has made me regret my vote already.

they couldn't let the banks fail - i am starting to think Bill was right about this whole mess - the government was the only one who could save them

Wasn't that show good? It really stripped out the political prejudice that you usually get and just gave the facts in a nice chronologic order. I hope you heard Geithner's name in there. He was with Paulson, shoulder to shoulder. Meet the new boss....
it's online at frontline.
watched it this morning.
I'd love to put house of cards and this show on dvd and store it away for 5 years.
Then watch it again through the lens of history.
I wonder what other revelations will be forthcoming.
I wish somebody would interview phil gramm.
I sure he has an interesting perspective on the whole thing.
