If you can find tubing to sleeve the damaged area, either inside or outside, I'd recommend that you buy an oxy-MAPP torch kit. They're about $50 at Sears, Lowe's, etc. They use the standard MAPP cylinder and an oxygen cylinder that is the same size. They won't weld, but they will braze. Bronze brazing rod with a sleeve will save your butt when the work needs to be done and replacement parts are a week away. I use mine about once every 5 years, and it's worth its weight in gold.
I use that style when I have to do plumbing around the house.
It is so much easier to work with silver solder when you get a really hot wick going.
