aint the altanatur - new alt same problem

new alt same problem disconnect the battery car dies

gonna go get a new battery

^sucks. Are you sure it is the battery? Diagnosis by replacement can get very expensive.

I agree. I think you need to do electrical testing to find where the problem is.

Jim , I never said you could not dilute it .



Steve , you did a test when it was running and you said it only showed a little over 11 volts . That means it is not charging . But when the problem started you might have been over charging and nuked a cell in the battery . It is not uncommon . I will bet the Alt was still junk .

We just replaced both in the Tahoe

yup - now it's reading 14.6v to the battery

It's the orig battery from 99 so oh well - guess i'll need one sooner or later and heck i have a spare alt...
