Despite the obvious fact you should not be on the cell at all while driving any vehicle, when you are first learning to drive manual, you have MORE than enough to do in the car w/o throwing in something that takes up 75% of your attention span

Sorry Ryan
Missed spell checking that message
Offer to Becky still stands - no phone though
More people in general need to know how to drive Standard or they will stop making them eventually

Yes I am generalizing, but the average driver is far more concerned with their conversation than their car. Most of us here are car people and tend to pay more attention.
My landlady is making her daughter learn to drive on a manual because she believes her daughter will have to pay more attention to her driving that way.
A recent poll I read says only 15-20% of people nowadays CAN drive a manual. I find that shocking and possibly a little low but any number less than 50% is scary.

Our son learned to drive on a manual transmission. His wife, her brother, his wife, none of them knew how to drive a manual transmission. So right there, you only had 25%, and that was about 15 years ago. I'd bet the recent poll of 15-20% is quite accurate.
I have four sisters, we all know how to drive a stick shift.

So Becky said yesterday - "When are you going to teach me to drive a manual so we can trade cars for the day?"
Trade for the day? - Drive the Aztek to work?

Maybe that is my new mission in life... teaching people how to drive a standard
