OK, in simpler terms... I don't want a hybrid. Not even a little bit. Not even if it can do 0-60 in 4 seconds. I just don't want it.

I also listen to music when I drive.
I seldom lower the top.
I powder coated my brake calipers
Amongst other things that I do different from you.

It doesn't make either of us better. Just different. It's OK. Really it is.

IMO, Honda will offer a decent gas powerplant in the CRZ in a year or two because not enough people who are interested in a sports car give a crap about green stuff.
Don't hold your breath, I think this is a very telling statement.

Fukui said he didn't consider that as a defeat to Toyota. But he acknowledged the Prius was a smart success, partly because it's only offered as a hybrid. "It's very clear to see the Prius is a hybrid," he said.

In that case, I guess my dreams of ever owning a CRX revival have bee dashed. Oh well. Probably a good thing because I am ultimatly saving for an NSX which is > CRX

Rick feels as you do in some of these categories. Thus one of the reasons, the Impreza HAD to have a turbo.

We all spend our money on different things. He's not a gadget guy, Italian loafers do nothing for him, suits? He's got one. When it comes to car buying, he knows what he wants. I'm not going to argue with him that we should NOT buy one with a turbo. He doesn't give me a hard time when I head out shopping or when I mod the house.

Seriously, you are not understanding my point at all, it has nothing to do with you, it has nothing to do with me, it has everything to do with CR-Z.

- I think it is fine you don't want a hybrid.
- Nothing about our differneces makes one of us superior than the other.
- I'm all about differnt strokes for differnt folks!

To me, taking a car that is designed and named to be so similar to a great car like the CRX and making it a hybrid grocery getter is like taking a car that looks like the S and putting a hybrid motor in it.
One last time - my ENTIRE and ONLY point was - I do not agree with your assesment that a peppy, fun, well handling hybrid, should not be modeled after a CRX because they are totally different. They are not different. Just because it is hybrid does not mean it has to be a grocery getter.

I'm well aware of that, but you put down the CR-Z concept and say it is not right to copy a CRX becaause the CR-Z will not be sporty like the CRX, and that, according to everything the rumor mill has shared about the CR-Z, is wrong.
I think the problem is this concept is *too* much like the original CRX. It's a very small car with similar horsepower. But... I'm fairly sure this car will have to be significantly heavier than the original CRX given the weight of a hybrid drivetrain and today's safety regulations. This adds up to a car that's slower than a '91 Si. The impressive torque will help it launch better than the old CRX, but ultimately it'll be slower or at the very best, equal in speed to the older model.

That would all be fine if engine technology had stood still since 1991, but it hasn't. Cars today are much faster than the cars of 15 years ago (today's Civic Si is about twice as powerful as one from '91). They also get similar mpg lugging around much more weight. I think Honda has skewed this car too far toward the fuel economy metric. I know I viewed the old CRX as a great little sporty car that compared favorable to anything available in its day. This new concept really doesn't compare favorably at all to today's sporty cars in performance, and that's what I was hoping it'd do well.

Anyone know who is selling those little mesh vents that go in the faux brake ducts on AP1 bumpers these days? I remember the name Coastal metals or something for some reason.

I just want the outer ones, not the big one for the middle opening. I am going to cut the passenger side duct open for the AEM filter and want to cover it with one of those little grills.

I like the look of the ones on Dave's car better than the version from coastal metals ( http://www.grill-accessories.com/index.asp...WPROD&ProdID=50 ). Do you happen to remember where you got yours, Dave?

Yeah, that's pretty much what I wanted. Not $60 worth though

I will end up fabbing something up if that is the going price.
