Both convertibles They are nice cars. I like the look of the Exige and the Elise.
Technically though they are a Targa, just like the C6. This is a critical distinction over Convertable because they have a fixed "roof structure" near the driver's head, which according to the rules makes it more a closed top car than a convertible, thus allowing it into many, many more driving school groups.

I have been thinking long and hard, and although I prefer the look of the Exige with that monster air intake on the roof, I'm afraid the Elise might be a better track option for me. Why you ask? While driing and riding in the Elise it dawned upon me just how limited my rearward vision was in the Elise. The rear window is small, and the 2 rear view mirrors although there, are mostly filled with a view of the rear fenders because the fenders flair out so far. If I factor into that the almost total lack of visability out the back of an Exige, I'm thinking an Elise would be better for me to track.

Keep in mind, as an instructor I'm out on track with things way, way, way faster than I am. Approach speeds can be as much as 50mph faster than what I'm doing so it is critical I'm always aware of what's going on around me. Plus, instructors often don't follow the rules in their session, so if you are not paying attention they will just take a pass without a point buy. Nothing get's your blood pumping until you go to turn in and suddenly you see a car coming in under you.

I've seen this first hand a couple times now You guys have way more fun than novice and intermediate

Since I was not driving and it was not my car I just enjoyed the ride

I had two guys in "German cars" pass w/o point by last year. I was not even out of turn 4 at that point; just too full of themselves to wait for the straight I guess.

Fun is one word for it, sometimes.

However, scary as f'ing hell can also be used to describe it at other times. I have had to take evasive actions before to avoid a crash, because some arrogant assshole believes he is too good for point buys. Fun is not a word I would use to describe that.
