Maintenance or check engine light? If it's cel, don't drive it and pull the code. If it's maintenance light just reset it.

does the light you are referring too have the words "MAINT REQ'D," to turn the light off follow these instructions....
Quoted directly from the manual
"Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position, then press and hold the trip meter reset button while you turn the ignition key ON. Continue holding the button until the indicator resets."
this does not work on CEL codes, you need a scanner to reset those.
and like NICK said, there is a lot of bad information here, especially whoever quotes directly from the manual, the manual is full of misinformation and bad advice.
P.S. thanks for making me type out the whole section on the CEL code when what you really wanted was the "maint req'd" light turned off. It's not a vital warning light and I've actually left it on for a whole year because i didn't understand the manual. To quote xviper, "you will not blow your engine, you have caused it no damage."

if it is do a quick search on how to reset it. Hold the trip button on something like that while car is off but key is in and then turn key to on position and keep holding button till it goes away.
Edit: didn't notice you posted above already haha.
