The pads are different part numbers from Honda. So I assume the material is different.
I noticed they’re the same size when I looked at Hawk HP Plus pads for the S2000 and realized that Hawk had the same number for both cars.
Are the AP2 pads different in size or is it just the material?

You’re correct. They really should have the AP2 pads be a replacement for the AP1 pads.
The pad backing plates (AP2, Si and Hawk) are all the same dimensions and easily fit into the caliper brackets. So when I upgraded to the Hawks on the S2000, I just used the ones that I’d run on the Civic Si for 5 track days and got a good season out of them.
