Local police station in the N. Dallas area guarantees you $76K+ after 36 months of being on the job. Pretty damn good considering the cost of living down here is so cheap.

30k/yr is a very comfortable wage in Oklahoma (or most of the 'interior' for that matter).

A bio major coming out of a good college makes about $40k at an entry level laboratory measuring and pipeting all day. A college education sure does go a long way these days. Half of my friends are doing grad school now, and the other half are looking into grad school.

30k is barely a livable wage

if he sucks at doing his job, give him more practice and aim less. hehe

For once, and probably ONLY once, I disagree with Scot. Now, he may very well be a subpar janitor, but let's take that out of the equation. Let's say he is a good janitor.

I assume he is being paid by your building/company on the books, so...43K. Now, Assuming he is married with 2 kids, lets say he takes home 22% less than that. So, we are down to $33,540. Now, the basis of society....people HAVE to be able to make a living working an honest job. If not, society crumbles. In NY, you couldn't survive with that kind of money. People have to live. You can't pay someone shit wages, and expect them to perform well, regardless of industry. Stressing over where you are going to sleep at night, if your kids will eat, and if you can make rent this month are only going to get in your way in terms of productive value.

No wonder so many NYPD cops are corrupt. Can you blame them? Hell no. Starting salary for an NYPD cop today is $29000....before taxes. What kind of living is that? Moreover, we expect these people to take a bullet "protecting and serving" for $29,000?

What Scot should have said is...."I need to make more money."

Our average starting salary at our hot, sweaty Warehouse is under $10.00 an hour. Our starting salary in our extremely dirty factory is about $12.00 an hour.....

we could probably hire a new guy who would do a better job for $22k a year. I did a little more asking yesterday. this guy takes 2 full hours to drive to the bank and back. it is 5 miles from here. that is his routine.

instead of just stepping up he whines when people complain about the poor cleaning he is doing...

He is a granddad so he does not have any kids to raise any more...
