50k a year...
I dont make much but I save almost everything and only buy when the price is unbeatable. The more money I save the less I spend.
If you are really 19 making 50k and you arent saving or investing then you are to immature to handle your paycheck. I'm not trying to dog on you but I was making 52 salary when I was 18 and I saved over half of my income every week.

No offense, but it appears that you need to redo all your finances.
Seems like your trying to live a lifestyle that you can't honestly afford.
If you want to keep the S, then sell the RSX, buy a hunk of junk for like ~$500 with liability only and that should help out a little. Find a roommate to help cut the mortgage in half....

I don't understand how people make $50k a year with no family and have a hard time living anywhere. I made it on my own making $14/hr in flipping Orange County while driving a new S2000. Of course things are much more comfortable these days, but come on...
My best guess? You're spending $150+ a weekend going out. You own one or more giant flat-screen TVs that you financed, and you wear designer clothes. Most "kids" (18-24) get their first job that pays real money and go nuts because they are making so much more than their peers. The problem is that $50k is peanuts in the real world. It's great for a 19 year-old, because they shouldn't have a wife, kids, or mortgage payments to deal with. Your job is not to offset those advantages with
My point? Forget you're 19 and making $50k. Compare yourself to someone who is 40 and making that money, and try living that lifestyle. Don't look at your friend working at Walmart who owns a 32" LCD, and assume you should own a 50" because you make better money.

the NoVA area in general is hard to live in. cost of living is as up there as NY and Cali. For insurance, i was paying 550/mo with 1 ticket and an accident sincec i was 18. Im now 21 and since then has dropped back down to 170/mo but this was and still is for a 2003 Civic Coupe. Ive had no tickets in 3 years. Insurance is just stupid around the area. Plus, she fits into the stereotype haha.
as for living costs, unless your living in a house, your getting ripped off. my parents have a 2nd house that theyre renting out for 1800 and it has 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, a basement, a backyard, and a deck. basically, if you want to live in fairfax, oakton, vienna, tysons, or anywhere near I-66, your going to have to pay. Try taking a look in houses in Reston or Herndon. Theyre in the middle of nowhere so prices are cheaper but youll be driving alot more.

Very well said. Your exactly right. Most of the younger crowd - I'm only 21 myself - try to compete with eachother on what materialistic items they have.
Yes, I will admit, I like to have nice things as well but by no means would I put myself in a financial position to where I couldn't put food on the table or gas in my car to get to work.
You are getting raped on insurance, jesus. I'm a 23 year old male in MD and i'm only paying 170 a month (Full coverage w/comprehensive/act of nature coverage too). How the hell are you paying 420/mo?!?
the car payment sounds about right if you financed 100% (and paid around 40-42k OTD) or are on a three year loan and finacned like 90%.
When i was 21 i made 30K in three months selling life insurance. I then promptly had a mental breakdown from working 100hrs a week.
Now i make a lot less, but i'll still pay my S off this year because i don't spend money anywhere else
Roomates, paid off bills, and wise spending FTMFW!
Seriously though, if you are making 50K at 19 and you are single with no kids, you have no excuse to be broke every month, especially not in VA. I lived by myself in the san francisco bay area paying 1000/mo for my apartment and making 1600 a month. If i could do that without destroying my credit or starving myself, you have no excuse for struggling on 50K in Virginia.

IT field does wonders
Straight outta H.S.? I'm assuming to get into the IT field, you have to go to college. Possibly making 50k at the age of 22 or 23, yeah. I'm also stumped on how someone can make 50k at 17 or 18, possibly a parents business? Or is it really "The right place at the right time"?
