I find Walmart so depressing. The drab colors, old men who should be retired working to make a living. I don't care for it. Instead, I shop at Target.

target pays thier employees a couple of dollars and hour more than walmart does.

if either of the two can afford to pay thier employees more it walmart. walmart makes way more money than target. but walmart would rather make that extra little bit. target makes less profit but they are certainly doing more for every one else, especially since they are not creating a base of employees that are dependent of income form the government to stay afloat.

and i think it is evident in thier employees. going to walmart is like going to the food stamp office. when you pay shitty minimum wage to everyone you can only hire the worst of the worst.

for just a few dollars and hour more, you get an entireley different labor pool.

No they don't. If they were all smart, they'd all know not to go at the same time (namely, Saturday morning before Jr.'s soccer game). Yet, despite this fact, there's still a perpetual traffic jam.

all i can say is that before walmart in the neighborhood, the area was dead. Walmart moved in 10+ years ago, and the place hasn't stopped booming. Now i am not saying that it is all because of walmart, but you can't argue that other businesses moved in because of the traffic Walmart brought to the area. The road went from 2 lanes to 6. A new mall opened up across the street. So in a squre block, you have walmart, target, best buy, movie theaters and a 100+ mall. All because 10 years ago, walmart decided to move in.

You can't blame them for what they are. It is a capitalistic society. If you don't like it, go somewhere else to shop. Millions of people buy walmart, and thousands work there. If it is so bad, why buy and work at this evil empire?

And the stories about illegal workers... how many of you would love to hire someone for 1/2 the price to do the work? if i could get away with it, i would. Shooooo.. the people who cut my grass and tend to my lawn, i bet the are illegal.. but i don't ask.. and they don't tell..

The reason for minimum wage laws and the emancipation proclamation!

Regodamndiculous!

How much should they pay someone the say hi to everyone that walks in the door?

At what point in time did stocking shelves and being a cashier become skilled labor to the point that you should get health benifits?

Did your "mom and pop" shops pay health benifits, no freaking way. Hell how many of them pay their emplyees under the table, refuse to give them breaks, etc... How many times did they give you family leave? Never because they didn't have to.

Walmart pays just fine for someone stocking shelves and ringing up customers.

This is backasswards thinking.

The idea that Walmart pays competitive wages is a joke!!! They run the competition out of town so you are left without alternatives for shopping or working. Then when the town's economy is thoroughly trashed, they leave!
lifes not fair

Go to the local crap store and you'll see they pay far less and benefits?

What benefits?

They don't employ 50 people so they don't have to even let you off for giving birth.

Its not Walmarts responsibility to overpay people so the government doesn't have to pay to suppliment unskilled labor.

Since medical bills are not determined by position.
