The 1911's are nice, but a bit too big for concealed carry in my opinion. Great all around guns though, a tried and true design.
I held the 36 up to my friend's 26, which I used to own as well, and I was surprised to note that it is just about the same size. The barrel is about a half inch longer, but the 36 is also quite a bit thinner, which is huge for me since I carry it inside the pants.
I was looking at Glocks recently when I went to purchase... they were what I always rented at the range, and it seems like what everyone raves about. Then I picked up a CZ and couldn't imagine buying anything else. It's not such a well-known brand here in the states, but it's the standard in many European countries. I will have to check out that CZ if I can find one. What caliber did you get?
I ended up getting the 9mm CZ 75B. I do believe they make some .45 weapons, but I could be wrong. I do know they make a few compact and subcompact options in 9mm.
That looks like a nice gun. However I just dont like the external hammer and the guard that is on the back strap to protect you from it.
I agree totaly that thinner is key to concealed carry. That is the major reason I went with the G36. It is roughly the same size as the G26 9mm, but is actualy thinner because it is single stack. 7rds of .45 is sufficient for a good concealable gun IMO.
I've owned a lot of hardware. All my 1911s are gone. I was sick of $2000 firearms that had to be treated like a lady. I like and trust the Glock because when you pull the trigger, they always go bang. They are easy to clean and last forever.
