I just asked 2 colorectal/general surgeons about this and one said, yes it is more beneficial because you have to create less intra abdominal pressure to evacuate the bowels.

The second one said, problem is in the US most people don't know squat.

It's real simple to test for yourself.

Sit on the commode and push.

Now get on the ground in front and squat and push being very careful that you aren't productive.

Now sit on the commode and lean forward and push.

You'll find squating and pushing is the worst. It feels like all your insides could come out. You'll find leaning forward on the commode seat creates the least stress.
