bicyclist on the road

From an experience i had, a cyclist pulled next to me without me knowing. I preceeded to make my turn while the cyclist tried to go straight. Its almost like having a two lane road when one is not acceptable.
mav, why are you getting so mad?
It is true that most people don't give a shit about cyclists, but look at their point of view and help them understand yours. I know riding with vehicles is difficult and I agree people should look out for us.
Things people don't understand so much.
It's much easier to get a stopped car moving than a stopped bike. The muscle power to push an accelerator vs a bike is a big difference. This explains why cyclists don't want to stop if they don't have to. You usually cycle for a distance to keep a pace and keep your heart rate up, not go for ups and downs (unless you are interval training).
It's much easier to see around you in a car than a bike. Cars have mirrors and windows to help you see. A cyclist has to turn his/her head which can cause their bike to swerve (a balance thing) and make it dangerous.
The side of the road sucks (Ive said this before). That's where all the crap gets strewn, like lots of stuff that causes bumps on super skinny road bike tires and also that punctures them.
Road bikes are not very manuveralbe. Some people are better than others, but being clipped in and dependent on balance makes a bike only really manuverable going forward and turning while moving forward. There's no reverse. You can't really bunny hop without risking your tube or other parts.
I'm sure Mav knows a lot more.

Anyone else starting to think Gink is really a 12 year old kid?
I started thinking he was 16 from the first post called "scared" in the street encounters section.

when it comes to motor vehicle laws... cyclists can get a DWI in New York (it might be a DUI or a DUAI) if they are on the street. What really sucks is that they can also get a public intoxication (thier outside) and two or three others that I cant remember but drivers cant get (oh, disorderly conduct is another).
equal rights? equal responsibility.
licensing, taxing, registration, insurance,,,,
enforce the same traffic laws, (i.e. splitting lanes or riding 2 wide,,,,pulling next to a car at a light, impeding traffic flow for a certain distance, signals,,,)
take the bad with the good or quit griping.
