ok, i got hired at this telemarketing company and they asked me to do training(orientation). Now, yesterday, I went for my first training session. I'm scheduled to go today and through friday, so thats 5 days in a row total training. BUT i cant go today and through Friday. I am going on a trip for two weeks(my cousins place in british columbia). Now my problem is I dont want to give up this job, so I need an excuse to tell them that I can't make it to training until two weeks from now. Do you guys have any ideas what excuse I can tell this company? I only have three hours left so I need to know ASAP PLEEASE HELP ME!!

Family emergency always works (in a far away place, of course!). Say, in the Amazon, maybe? Two weeks is a long time, though - why not just tell the truth? If you show them that you've got money irretrievably sunk into the trip, they should see your point.

Better to tell the truth now than to show up in 2 weeks with a tan....

If you don't want to appear irresponsible, do the right thing and tell the truth.

Tell them you don't want the job. IF you're going to lie to your company because you're afraid of the truth, then that's your problem for being irresponsible.

you should have informed them before, but.. you need to inform them now so they can rearrange and reschedule your training if they still want you. never know... the other side sometimes accepts the truth much better than you think.
