speaking of transwarp drive, i read somewhere that they never figured out why it don't work, so the Federation gave up and instead focused on making warp drives more efficient. warp 10 is supposedly unreachable due to the infinite amount of power required to accelerate to that speed, so even the Galaxy class (Enterprise C) can only do warp 9.999xxx or something like that

what can i say, i'm a big sci-fi buff

on a side note, i think humans will eventually figure out how to sidestep the physical limits of this space and dimension and achieve faster than light travel. i don't believe i'll see it, but if there's one thing i'm certain of, it's the believe in human ingenuity and evolution of knowledge. that's why i'm such a fan of ST, not just because of the sci-fi portion, but because it gives me hope of a better future for humans, and hopefully my children and their children.
