Civic drag car powered by S2000 motor.
Sorry but you are comparing apples to oranges. We are talking about a full blown race car not a modified street cruiser. If a tube frame Civic with a full blown race engine goes against a 911 tube frame with a full blown race engine. Yes you can say that civic beat that 911.
And along those same lines you could also compare this civic with John Force's tube frame "mustang" which gets a 4.5 second 1/4 mile. In fact, if this civic is indeed going to be rear wheel drive, then I would say the that the civic has even less in common with a real civic then John Force's mustang has with a real mustang.
Anyway I think the original point is that once you start doing any major changes like swapping engines or replacing the chassis you can't really compare anymore.

All this talk begs the question:
At what point of changing parts and swapping things out does the car cease to be what it was and become something different?
I mean, what makes the F20C an F20C. If you throw the supercharger on it, it's surely still an F20C, but if you do a full internals rework (pistons, con-rods, valves, cams) is it still an F20C. Maybe as long as you still have an F20C block?
To this, is a Civic with a B18C still a civic? what about a Miata with a Ford 5.0 V8?

do a search for "hybrid civic" on google.com
thought that was the generally accepted term for a civic with an engine swap? all i remember is when i was looking to do the same, all the shops i went to were using that term

This is like the skyline that looks like a funny car that runs in the 8's. People are saying a skyline runs in the 8's, which is not true. The skyline engine, built and boosted to insane amounts in a completely different chassis and frame runs 8's.
It just isn't a skyline it is a funny car. Any RWD civic that is running a tube frame and different engine...is pretty far from a civic. Just like that monster CRX with the RWD conversion...how can you call it a CRX?? The only thing it has in common with a crx is the basic shape of the body!!
All and all if you start building the frame, replacing the entire engine, running gear, and the drivetrain...it is pretty hard to keep the brand of car. It always cracks me up to see a mopar funny car running 4's with neon lights painted on it!!
Or ford tauras running dayton 500 stock car race!!
it sounds to me like this "civic" is about as much of a civic as the tauras is a stock car.
both change driving configs (FWD to RWD)
both have different engines
both are way faster then their namesakes
both are gutted tube frames
pretty fair comparison i think.
