Drink lots of fluids, and get lots of sleep is the best thing.

In my experience, the only effective cold remedy, and it is effective, is lots of rest. If I push myself to go to work or such, I usually end up feeling worse. (I'll admit that I often take some benadryl before bed to help me sleep, although it's usually not an allergy issue.)
I have a friend who swears by the Airborn stuff. It messed up my stomach bad the two times I took it, though. No more, thanks.
Also I remember reading a news article about the company behind airborne having to pay out some like 23 millions bucks to consumers in a settled lawsuit.
Found it.

I like Zicam zinc swabs. I am convinced they reduce the severity of most of my colds (if I get to swabbing just as soon as I notice it coming it). But I know the proper double-blind research results are mixed.

No shit? I'm going to have to keep a box in the house just for hangovers.
1.) Take 2 advil with a glass of water before you go to sleep (aftera night of drinking or while having a cold). It really gets rid of the day after headache is most cases,
2.) When you wake up in the morning, take an airborne tablet and drink a glass of water and/or orange juice (great source of vit. C).
3.) Take another airborne around lunch time and just keep hydrated. Propel water and gatorade are really good and replenishing electrolytes.
4.) Don't eat greasy foods. You're stomach will already be in shambles from the drinking or not feeling well due to a cold or flu. Eat Veggies/fruits and pastas. Breads are also good...try to stay away from fried foods and meat because the digestion of meat also taxes your body.
5.) The ultimate fix if you know a doctor is a b-12 shot (maybe extreme, but works).
6.) Lastly, sleep is the best fix, but I never have the luxury of laying in bed all day so I need to cure my cold/hangovers on the fly.

so my whole house has been sick at some point or another in the past two weeks. all of us had either the flu or in one particular case, pneumonia. 2 of my other roommates spent loads of money on airborne, walborne (ghetto airborne), nasal sprays, multiple pills, and all this other shite. Seriously, what a bs industry.
Today, i come into work and i am listening to one woman who sells personal wellness products on the side talking to another employee instructing her how to drink water with her special mixture. "Is it ok if i drink half now and half later?" "oh yeah, absolutely, if you like your water cold, you can refrigerate it and have some later"...it cost $20 for a box
how about you eat healthier in the first place...like not ordering fried foods for lunch everyday, drinking the req. amount of water, and consuming fruits or veggies...guarantee those costs are less than these "preventative" measures
why do people spend so much money trying to trick themselves into feeling that they are feeling better?

yup. But different hangover remedies work for different people. The worst thing you can do after a long night of drinking is just pass out. I used to use the airborne product to help hangovers and it helped significantly. The same methods used to help get through a cold can be applied to. Here are my proven methods that other people I know have used too.

You act like I've never been hung over before. I'm big on the pound a couple bottles of water and advil before bed. I've gotten to the point where the hangover is less of a headache and more of a full body...weirdness. These days I hate hangovers so much I typically only go all out on a night where I know I have the next day off. Caddying all day while hungover is a horrible way to spend the morning, but tyically by the turn I'm feeling okay just because most of it has been sweated out and I've taken down another 3-5 bottles of water.Eventually I'll probably learn to stop drinking, but in the meantime I think I'll try a morning supplement. I've used emergenc a few times, that wasn't bad. (Disclaimer: I'm not a powder supplement fanboi, I just REALLY hate hangovers.)
