I haven't read this whole thread but in Ohio it has to be on you in "plain sight" or in a locked glove box. I've been looking at a seat belt holster that rides you right between the waist and rib cage.

You gun-lovers really are one trick ponies. When are you going to understand that I am not opposed to your gun laws? So there is no point in coming back to me with the pro-gun argument. I agree with you; you have the right to bare arms and the right to arm bears for all I care.
I don't understand why these people are trying to argue with you.
"Yeah, well you guys were founded by prisoners...! Gotcha..!" I think someone learned one fact about Oz and couldn't wait to use it. HAHA

Two other choices I use:
1) Kramer leather cross draw holster. Very easy access to left hip if you're right handed while belted in the car.
2) Fanny pack

Yes, and what is your point? We also make Fosters but it's not like anyone here drinks it.

Side note on 'Shrimps': Another tourism thing. Nobody here calls them 'shrimps'. They are 'Prawns' or 'scuba diving cockraches'. Trust me, Paul Hogan and Steve Irwin have done little to promote the true Australia.

'Sharks, don't worry about sharks! The crocodiles ate all the sharks!'
Yes, but an Aussie friend I met in Greece said that Steve Irwin won the "Australian of the Year" award. We cracked on him good for that one.

Hmm, I will definitely have to take a look into one of those. From the sound of it that would be really comfortable, easily accessable, yet out of any view/reach of a passenger.

Thank you!

I'm far more cynical than our gentle moderator.

There's a well-known study from the late 1980s stating that you are 43 times more likely to shoot a friend or relative than an intuder.
You are cynical, but you trust some study that was done?

Can you link to the study you are so specifically quoting?

If it's the study I am thinking of it was debunked as WILDLY biased. For example, they asked people (gun owners and not) if they had ever been vitimized in their homes. People like Upitychick who scared off burgalers with their guns answered "No." As they didn't feel they had been victemized. This lowered the numbers of people who had successfully defended themselvs.

Secondly, the numbers included statistics on suicides. Now, we could go off on a HUGE tangent about suicide attempts being a cry for help, and that what might be an attempted suicide could be made more successful with access to a gun. However, I can't see the argument for including these stats with the aforementioned study. If a family member shoots themselvs, then it's not the same as the homeowner accidently shooting a family member. It's really quite different.

Illinois has no concealed carry permits. To carry in your car the weapon must be unloaded and the ammo must be stored separatly from the weapon. The weapon MUST be in a case (althought it is not required that it be locked, I do lock my gun cases while transporting.) A loaded magazine in the case with the gun (even if the magazine is not inserted into the gun) is considered a loaded gun.

All that said, and back on topic (sorry for the rant, but I HATE when people disseminate information that is blatently false.) I know you like that XD, but I suggest you get a little more concealable weapon for daily carry. I personally really like the Sig 228. It's only available in 9mm, but the 229 is the same size and is available in .357 sig or .40S&W. Check out http://www.sigforum.com or http://www.glocktalk.com (The Sig forum has a great area on CCW.)

In all honesty, i have not put much thought into purchasing a 2nd more compact pistol for daily use. I do appreciate the links though, tonight when i return home from work i'll take the time to look through those sites for possible idea's.
