Also, in some smaller metropolitan areas SWAT teams spend an inordinate amount more time training then they do responding to actual threats. They train and train and train, and some(not all) can't wait for a chance to storm in and put all that training to use. Its not a game, its not an excercise, and they are not in the movie SWAT. Its real life and they need to be held accountable for the actions they take

I agree that pitbulls aren't inherently bad but most people that own them have them for that "tough image" and lots of people have them and treat them badly. I had a friend that had one, treated it very well and was never aggressive towards it and it still constantly bit people when they came over and he had to get rid of it because it hurt his kids a few times. Nothing major, but it would still draw blood unprovoked.
Because people abuse pitbulls resulting in pitbulls becoming aggressive...some simple research would indicate pitbulls were meant to aid humans in the slaughter of livestock and were never meant to be human aggressive (from wiki but still true "In the United States, these dogs were used as catch dogs for semi-wild cattle and hogs, to hunt, to drive livestock, and as family companions;")
Your friend is an owner that is unwilling to dedicate the time to training a dog...having two (one of which was rescued from a fighting operation) pitbulls can be stubborn and require a significant time investment but with training are perfect dogs. Your friend is the problem with pitbulls (and any dog for that matter). The mentality of "I want a dog, I want a dog" but do not take the time and effort to train the dog and just "get rid of it" when things don't work out. Your friend is why shelters are full and thousands of dogs are euthanized each year.
Please stop being ingnorant...FYI I have lurked this message board for a while and just now posted due to your ingnorance. You are welcome sir!

well.. whether the pitbull breed is aggressive or not is kinda beside the point. Chihuahua are pretty aggressive also, always yapping at strangers.
However, an improperly trained chihuahua doesn't kill anybody. An improperly trained pit will. so will some other large breeds.
FWIW, inner city youths have chosen pits to portray their toughness and so therefore we see this image in pits, right or wrong.

Not exactly while the child looks on if he is in the other room. Still looks like excessive force but then again pit-bulls are very aggressive so you never know what they saw.
