cops kill family pets

If pitbulls aren't aggressive then why is it that most apartments don't allow them and some vet's wont even see them?
I agree that pitbulls aren't inherently bad but most people that own them have them for that "tough image" and lots of people have them and treat them badly. I had a friend that had one, treated it very well and was never aggressive towards it and it still constantly bit people when they came over and he had to get rid of it because it hurt his kids a few times. Nothing major, but it would still draw blood unprovoked.

txchopper5,
You are correct that I made certain assumptions regarding your friend but these assumptions are based on the time I have spent volunteering at shelters. All to often owners drop their dogs (pits as well as other breeds) off citing a variety of "issues" the dog has but all too often the fault does not lie with the animal but the owner. I am glad with your friend that was not the case and he made an attempt to address the dog's behaviors.
My issue was your generalizations regarding pits based on a limited sample (your friends experience). As Chris@NLM stated, "I don't want people to assume all pits are bad dogs."

This will be my last post on the subject since it's gone too far already.
I realize Pits can be great and friendly dogs and wouldn't mind having one myself at all. My point was that a lot of these dogs, especially in lower income drug dealing areas, are trained to be aggressive and attack because they're very good at it. Even a dog that isn't trained for that will often react that way given that someone is breaking into their house and yelling.
In my opinion there isn't enough proof from the video to prove if the cops were right or wrong, but I could easily see them being justifiably using force. Sucks for this guy, but maybe next time he'll think twice before doing whatever he did to get a judge to grant a warrant and the cops to bust into his home.
Sorry for any offense anyone may have taken for what I said, I wasn't intending to cause trouble.

Yes, but there is a difference between barking and growling and doing that while they charge at you. I'm not saying the dog was wrong, but if I'm that cop and I see any big dog running at me and I see it as aggressive, it's going down. The last thing I need is a dog clamping on my arm when someone comes around a corner with a gun to shoot me, which is in the back of all these guys mind's if they're geared up like that.
So we are saying this makes it ok to shoot any dog that runs towards the door? I understand that the cops don't want the dog gnawing on their arm when the home owner is on the other side of the wall with a gun. Perhaps, I give my dog to much credit and think she has equal rights. I know she's just a dog, but I treat her like family.
About the raid, the "mistaken home identity" theory is beginning to make sense. When a warrant is issued and a SWAT team is involved, it must be for a big drug operation, not for a supposedly minor maryjane bag. That whole situation is ridiculous and I hope the family will sue. I certainly would. And if I were that family and that maryjane wasn't mine or that I didn't use it for a while, I would've taken a drug/blood test right after the arrest to prove it in court.
About the dog breeds, it's very simple, guys. Some animal species have different animalistic behaviors than others, and some dog breeds have a tendency to be more aggressive than others. It's been shown in countless of scientific studies that pitbulls and rotts have a tendency to have very aggressive behaviors; there's no denying that and only an idiot would beg to differ. However, IF properly trained from puppyhood, they CAN be different, but that doesn't mean those breeds don't have a natural aggressive behavior. That's like saying all cat species have similar nature of behavior when we know that, for instance, an African wildcat is much more aggressive than a common household cat, if when trained.

No one is saying that they are a non aggressive bread.
Also, after reading some other posts, I have to say that I've been at a house that was raided where police drug enforcement detectives broke down my girlfriends aunts house door one night raiding her for cocaine possession and she only had trace amounts on a compact and rolling papers. She's a casual blow user with some friends so I hear, and that's all. She was buying it from a 'pretty well known' dealer and they popped him and everyone down the chain. I think they thought there was something else bigger going on.
My girlfriend was living in her basement and I had the priveledge of staying over that night it happened
So anyways this situation could have happened by a number of ways, but it really sucks for just a stoner dude
