Better to be cheap and frugal than live above your means (see your other thread). I wish my relatives were penny pinchers.
I am somehow related to all kinds of wierd people.

The relatives who don't have any $ spend it like they were winning the lottery on a daily basis, and the people who do have $ and are getting pretty old (upper 60's) don't seem to spend very much at all.

We used to take care of an old guy (BILL) who died at age 73. He lived in a trailer and drove an old escort. He didn't go anywhere, didn't do much of anything. every year he would gain net worth due to his retirement being more than his expeneses. I kept telling him to take a trip, buy a new car, but he didn't.

The cheaper gas one always kills me... "hey, let's drive 30 km to the other side of the city and save 15 cents a litre!"

If people really had that much time on their hands they should just fill up with $10 or $20 at a time, the lighter weight of the vehicle will save them some gas

You know, after I read this I really wondered...is there a point of optimization with this?

I wonder what kind of MPG savings might be available by forgoeing the full tank and going half each time.

Heheh...

i only fill up all the way to the top top top of the tank when i know gas prices are stable or if they're goin up.
when i know gas prices are going down, i tend to just fill up half way and wait it out.
hey if someone gets around to figuring out how much gas you save from forgoing the full tank... tell me... i wanna get a good laugh and tell my dad's sister. the cheap frugal one.

Scot's rules:

1) No more stinky bathrooms. If you stink, go s*** in the woods with the bears. Anyone caught stinking up the bathroom will have charcoal filters implanted in their poop chute.

2) No more bluetooth cellphones. The first time you're caught with an earpiece, you lose the ear.

3) Every household must have an NSX. If there aren't enough to go around, NSXs will be shared, but you must have one in your driveway at least once a week.

4) If you go over the limit on your credit card, you lose a finger. When all your fingers are gone, you won't be able to get money or credit cards out of your wallet/pockets, so your credit will improve and you may even save money.

5) If you borrow my money and spend it on bling, the bling will be auctioned off on ebay and you still hav to pay back the money.

6) If you go to a restaurant and don't tip, you have to go in the restaurant's bathroom and make it stinky while using a bluetooth phone to purchase bling wihich puts your credit card over the limit. See consequences above.
