^^^^ are you kidding me? Dollars per square mile? That is laughable.

How about dollars relative to GNP? That would be a more fair way to compare.

Not taking the shear size of a country is idiotic. The us probably has more miles of roads to maintain than anyone. Norway probably has only in the 10's of thousands of miles of roads. Build a train track from east china to west china and tell me how much money that would cost to maintain. You have to have it. Norway doesn't.

So you don't think there is an expense to the millions of miles of road in the us compared to the 1000s of miles of road in Norway?

Th us infrustructure requires much more money per capita to maintain. You can try to argue that all you want you'll still be wrong.

This is an internet forum I'm not writing a term paper. Moron.

Oh yeah it's good to note that we have a lower tax rate then most of these countries so the US doesn't collect as much as these from it's citizens and since we are larger we need to invest more in our infrastructure. Norway doesn't have the miles of roads nor the number of airports etc. that we have.

Somewhere there's a island of 1 that gave $500, it isn't the same. All the countries that are the most per person have the least people and high rates of taxes.

Lets look at countries near our size. Russia & China, hum don't see them on the list.

After it's all added up Canadas per capita contributions are probably less or near the per capita of the US.
Yes and no. Being a relatively small country, yet having such a huge population means that local government can share infrastructure costs, thus relieving the federal government of some of the burden. Big infrastructure typically means a lot more money being generated, while costs go down due to increased responsibility requirements of local government.

The notion of an island of 1 gave $500 is telling. That's exactly my point - the generosity of that island far surpases just about anyone. Imagine the costs of maintaining an island by yourself! Tell me that's not the most expensive proposition you can think of one person having to handle.

I think you'd best quit while you're behind.

Easy there, pal - no need to get all "het up".

Actually, when you consider the climate and conditions of Norway (or Canada), you'd probably be surprised at how expensive those roads are to maintain compared to many roads in the USA. Snowclearing alone is hugely expensive, since it's labour intensive and uncontrollable.

Do you have proof that the USAs infrastructure costs more to maintain per capita? If you don't, I wouldn't be talking about other people being wrong...
