exceltoexcel, so you think the $.50 you gave is too much. PM me your address and I'll personally reimburse you. Maybe then you won't be so bitter.
I think I'll give him 50

WHY DON'T YOU LOOK IT UP YOURSELF INSTEAD OF TALKING OUT YOUR ASSES!

11+ BILLION IN FORIEGN AID ALONE. NOT COUNTING THE 300 mill

Why don't you do the leg work and find out how much Canada gave for us.

THIS IS THE REAL WORLD.

I'm sorry I gave the allocated number. if you add it all up (not just allocated aid) it was 38.7 Billion out of the 108.5 billion given by the world last year 35% of the total amount given! That doesn't count the domestic social programs which are way way more.

Wow we kick everyones ass for every form of aid

Larson said that U.S. official development assistance (ODA) nearly doubled from 2000 to 2004 to more than $19 billion, making the United States the world's largest ODA donor.

The United States was also the world's leader in food aid, providing $2.1 billion in aid in 2004 and increasing its support for agricultural development, he said.

Topping ODA, another important resource for economic development in poor countries is foreign workers' remittances, Larson said. Worker remittances from the United States came to $28 billion in 2003. The United States is encouraging developing countries to make it easier and less expensive for remittances to get to their intended recipients, he said.

all goverment sources

Guess I was right. shocker! Look at the back page of your tax form! 31% of our taxes go to social programs and community development NOT INCLUDEING FOREIGN AID!
So I gave 5156.54 this year + $166.34 to outside countries for humanitarian aid. 5322.88 in forced donations! Anyone here want to give that back to me?

Oh yeah I'm not even taking into account my state taxes!

you had no idea what you were talking about.

I'm not offended most people don't read the back of their tax forms they just throw -up the party line. I belive all my sources came from government links that you can verify on your own. I don't think me giving nearly $6,000 of my pay check to charitable causes is the same as your 50 cents which comes out to $2.91 for just that one event. The $3.00 doesn't mean squat to me but the over $6,000 probably closer to 10k does! Please don't take offense I don't think i'll of you. I just hope this shines some light on my position. I still give to church and put money in the poor box. I don't go that often but when I do I always feel guilty for not going enough and drop a chunk of change. Again i think the church knows better what to do with the money then I do. I take the clothes I don't want and give them to goodwill. I donated my car to the blind. I give old furniture,pots/pans, etc. to purple heart. I'm not a grinch.

It makes sense that the US would give more than Canada - if I'm correct, I think the States has about 5x the population. Numbers are interesting things...In the end, does it matter who gives more? Foreign aid is, IMO, a small part of the global picture.
I don't think you're a grinch, it's just that in some of your posts you seem pretty darn angry about the amount of money that's being spent to help others. Perhaps some of us are trying to understand why that is.

Doesn't matter who spends more.

Like I said no one owes anyone anything in this world.

No one is entitled to anything.

I get angry when our own citizens think we're stingy and talk about our gov. like were evil when in reality the numbers indicate the opposite.

I wasn't upset about the amount of money being spent but rather that people don't belive it's enough.

I would rather take that 10k and put it where I belive it should go rather than the US gov.

Why don't you leave the country? Seriously.

Personally I'm glad that I can live the fabulous lifestyle I do AND am able to give so much. I think that's super!

Unfortunately you have only two choices here to find happiness if, in deed, you're even looking for it. You can either leave this country for one where you can live in an ivory tower, or change your attitude towards helping people in need.

The choice is yours, bud.
