Shotguns are fairly easy to acquire in the U.K. and there are many of those about. Until a few years ago, there were no security conditions for keeping a shotgun. Then a guy called Michael Ryan went berserk in Hungerford and slaughtered a lot of people using pistols and military weapons, before taking his own life. In a totally knee jerk reaction to this, the government introduced legislation, requiring all Shotgun Certificate Owners to observe safe keeping regulations, despite the fact that Ryan didn't use

Wait till you shoot a .44 magnum. That gun is just pure power. I remember the first time I shot a .44 magnum. I was at the LA gun club and the reverberations from the aftershock were just incredible. I was standing behind my friend when he was shooting it and I could just feel the blasts coming from the gun.

I was wildfowling one time on the Solway Firth in Scotland and a guy handed me his 4 bore (4 gauge) shotgun to have a go with. Each cartridge contained a quarter pound of lead shot! It would have knocked me on my ass if it hadn't driven me down into the mud instead!

Wow! I've never shot a shotgun with that big of a load.

Wait until you shoot a full auto. Now that is fun.
