Damn you guys are still beating a dead dog over this? If you are not a h0m0 why do you care about this or how does it affect you? If your a straight white male, then you really don't need to give a crap over this.
The gays lost twice, if this was so important to them they should have just defended their position. Now their just pouting like spoiled children who don't get their way.
Besides it's Christmas time to enjoy the season (and a big FU to other faiths, enough of this calling it "Happy Holiday's" or some other BS like that) last time I checked this country was founded by Christians and this time of the year it's Christmas.

You say that "the gays lost twice" and that they should therefore shut up and bear their burden. Proposition 8 passed because gays are only about 10% of the population, and therefore cannot protect themselves from the tyranny of the majority. Surely blacks in Alabama in 1960 could not have mustered the votes necessary to throw off the shackles of Jim Crow - Should MLK Jr. have told everyone to just smile and go home? During the campaign they did "defend their position." They lost the vote. But mark my words - In my lifetime, this inequality will cease.
I'm glad you invoked the argument that this country was founded by Christians and that therefore, no other faith should be allowed to celebrate its traditions or be recognized for its contributions to American prosperity. First, a great many of the so-called framers of the nation actually believed in Deism, which recognized the existence of a supreme God, but which rejected the supernatural occurrences of the bible and posited that God's vision for man could be derived through reason, a direct influence of enlightenment principles in the founding of the United States. So, no, it wasn't founded by "Christians." (This point is, clearly, debateable. In any case, whether or not the United States of America was founded by followers of a particular sect ought not, in my mind, control its ultimate destiny and cause us to ignore the plain fact that it is a far more diverse place today than it was when there were only 13 stars on the flag.)
However, the framers were explicitly clear that there was to be no recognition of religion by government. I cannot fathom how they could have been any more clear on the point. Why don't you tell your friends and family "Merry Christmas," and be content to have your government say, if anything, "Happy Holidays," because your neighbors and countrymen are not all Christian. Or, sure, bang your head against the wall and keep drinking the "Borders, Language, Culture" kool-aid.
In the spirit of the season, I do wish that you and your family enjoys a happy, healthy, and prosperous Christmas.
To all others, Happy Holidays.

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
(From the inscription on the Statue of Liberty, a poem by Emma Lazarus)

[QUOTE=BearNVa,Dec 5 2008, 06:03 PM] I will try.... however I'm still waiting for ANYBODY ON THE PLANET to give me physical proof of GOD. No matter what views I have or anybody else has where is the physical proof? The bible doesn't count it was written by man. Why when it comes to homosexuality does religion come in to play? Why can't it be people using common sense about one another in life as humans instead of bringing up religion? Religion is SUPPOSED to be a private matter, not hey read this book (aka bible and such) and join my gang. Gangs run the same way as churches if you don't believe in what we believe in or do as we tell you to do we will basically beat you down or kill you. Religion basically runs off the same concept.

Hmm well let me see... to actually see all people in society in ALL countries come together as one and stop the way the world is heading. Meaning... senseless blacks killing blacks in gang activities, to see all the senseless muggings, rapes, kidnappings, and beatings stopped. No more diseases, no more bigotry, or hate. To be able to go to bed at night and NOT have to lock my doors, windows, and worry about someone coming in to my house. To be able to drive down any street in any place in the world and never find a homeless or hungry person. This is just a start but I could go on and on....
